Barbara’s family has lived in North Castle for over 100 years. Her uncle John Herganhan was police chief and served 40 years on the force, and her aunt, Mildred Wago served 40 years as Receiver of Taxes.

Barbara, a retired English teacher of 35 years (Westlake High School) enjoyed a strong, bipartisan working relationship with Supervisor Michael Schiliro while on the Town Board, so much so that Democrat Schiliro appointed Barbara his Deputy Supervisor. Together they:

  • Preserved over 130 acres of open space.

  • Paved all 96 miles of town roads.

  • Restored the town’s AAA bond rating.

  • Maintained a solid fund balance.

  • Held taxes flat
